... On February 20th The North Okanagan experienced a lunar eclipse - this hand-held photo taken by local artist and photographer River Lewis from downtown Vernon. The blood red color is a visual phenomenon of the eclipse. A lunar eclipse occurs when the earth casts a shadow on the moon, blocking light from the sun which usually illuminates the moon.
